i dont think the question was about the risk of mods. i think it was more a case of i want to mod which is the best. my personal preference is jb4 but excede are also good i hear. seeing as you are in cape town you should go for jb4. you will get good support in cape town. the jb4 is going to make you one happy chappy. pm revo for pricing.

Not really related but I saw a 135i the other day with a personalised plate "JB4 GP".

BMW must be crazy suspicious :biglol:

So I have read the jb4 threads b4 , didn't find much explaining xcede tho, maybe I'm searching wrong, hence the post on asking for a comparison.

okey .... lets be serious now ...

jb4 is very popular abroad .. u have different map options ... its plug and play .. so u can take it out before a service ... the gains are quite good but average... its equivilant is procede v5 ... but lately ive heard very good things about jb4 ...

Xcede has got a flash tune for the n54 ... great gains .. if u looked at the dyno day thread u would see they had a software flash tune only 135i making around 250kw at the wheels ...

These days with bmw being so strict and all with the mods .. u will have to reflash ur ecu to stock before sending ur car in to bmw if u take the flashtune option ...

After that u can do lotsa stuff ... depending how hectic u want to go .. downpipes, bov, watermeth etc etc .. u can ask sleeper135i .. he has a very strong n54 ...

I am also looking at doing a software tune to my N54-135i, need to choose between JB4, Xcede and ChipBox.

I have 10K mileage of motorplan left and I still don't know if I should. A friend of ours works at BMW, he says they have a new type of diagnostic they plug-in to the cars and check for any variance in power etc. He said even if you have something like a removable ECU plug in they will see that in the variance report's history.

I don't know if this all is the true, the oak is someone that won't really bullshit me. Does anyone else know about this ?

i think this topic has been covered 1000 different times on this forum. basically if you mod your car you risk losing your mp. its really that simple. but if you exercise caution like i have it is unlikely you will be found out. go jb4 and learn how to install it and uninstall it yourself. there are also lots of people on here who will be able to give you good guidance.
