135i intercooler on a 120d

hey guys,

i was wondering if an intercooler off an e82 135i will fit onto an e82 120d?
if so is it plug and play or not?

also will it be an upgrade?

It will be an upgrade and is possible to fit, but will require quite a bit of work regarding piping etc.

It’s not a direct fit.

opcorn: Ive been thinking about this upgrade also - would be interested to see what effects RE power increase it would have. Im certain the plumbing mods should not be too bad (not plug and play) - but Im just guesing.

I'm not really doing it for power increase (wont complain if i do get though) im doing it more as a supporting mod as my car's intake temps run quite high.

I recently determined that I have a leak on my 330d's intercooler, it's weeping from the tank ends on the hot side.
Having heard that the N54 cooler (17517540035) is an upgrade, when I came across a good deal on one in related WhatsApp group, I bought it.

Now I haven't come to fitting it yet (asking for knowledge here first), but has anyone here done this and can confirm what else is required to get it to fit?

Yes its a direct fit, just do yourself a favour and put 2 new seals at the same time.

Thanks for the info Danny. I had all the pipes off a couple months ago and replaced the overly expensive o-rings on either side of the cooler thinking they were the cause of this mess.

I cleaned that all up good and proper but I had it off again at the weekend to flush and replace the coolant and can clearly see where the leak is now.

Need to come see you for coding stuff thought.
