12th Nov - Nelspruit roadtrip/breakfast run

So one of my friends at work took delivery of his new car today (not a BMW, a VW polo Vivo 1.6). We talked about having the mandatory road trip that goes with a new car . And we decided on going to nelspruit on the weekend after this one (saterday the 12th) so I just thought I would post it up here for anyone here that would be interested in joining.

Will basically just go there to eat breakfast and then come back, long way to go for breakfast, really short notice I guess and probably doesn't make financial sense to go lots of cars, but it is all about the drive

Be sure to take the Shoemanskloof way - not the N4 all the (boring) way.

Not a good idea that's a real bad narrow road with trucks and taxis overtaking everywere not a good I stay up here there's people killed every week on that stretch the kaapche hoop route is good

Having a run up here would be good

I drive the Schoemanskloof road at least 3-5 times a year to go visit my cousin, and the ONLY kak I've ever had was when we drove back during the night and hit some really thick fog just before Mashado. Schoemanskloof is a good road, and has lekker turns, and all the uphill parts splits into 2 lanes so the trucks stay left, and you can pass right.
I can honnestly say for me this is the safest option, and a really fun road, but thats my oppinion. I also drove the road through waterfal-boven a few times, but that road is REALLY crap!!!, Nice scenery but thats about all.

I stay just before the turnoff. At sappi its true the scenery is good the road is good but it there's always pile ups on it, but what ever you do, do not break down here the stealers are one of the most incompetent skelm part fitters in the countery

You referring to the dealership in Nelspruit??
Yes east view bmw a bunch of incompetent crooks had my car there three times for the same job ,eventually I paid R8000 for a repair and I requested the parts be returned to me only to find the parts were not even a year old by the production date stamped on them when I questioned this as work carry a 2year warranty and I have full service history at agents suddenly I revive a refund but not for the second repair job that was part of the original bodge up repair by pinnacle bmw in secunda . There is no way a specially trained technician could not pick that up or identify this aswell I also got bullshited about stretch bolts on one job it was necessary on the next job it was not but it was the same repair job I don't mind paying for repairs or there rate but when I do pay I want it doing properly and. Not bodging up.

They cannot be trusted , after I found out about the repair job done last time I had lawyers on them and had the refund quickly ,but the second repair job it will cost me the same to take two days leave to go to small claims court ,so I have left it go but I will never use them again they can't be trusted

Im keen to come with Sank :=):

Awesome will keep you in the loop.

We discussed another couple of ideas, and though that we might not go to nelspruit, but maybe somewhere else in MP (maybe a bit closer). Anyone have suggestions with regards to nice places (read nice roads  ) in MP that are within a couple of 100 k's from gauteng? (If possible post a map)

I stayed in Nelspruit for 7 years - let me tell you I have seen more accidents on the N4 between Machado and Ngodwana that any other road in MP. The Schoemanskloof road is great since it was re-tarred.

Just dont drive at night.
That's the Plan Right

Perhaps undertake a drive to the Loskop dam.
