Hey fanatics. I know that the 125i has a 3l motor but I'm curious to know what the differences between this motor and the 130i motor are? Are there any hardware differences or is it just software?

Hi, the 130i has a straight 6 cylinder 3l motor with 195kw/315nm. 0-100 in 6.1sec.

The 125i is a 4 cylinder 2l turbo motor with 160kw/310nm. 0-100 in 6.4sec

Hey carbon, sorry I should have been more clear. I am referring to the e82/8 125i and not the f20.

Which models? I know the 2005 125 was a 3L motor, I'm not sure if there is hardware differences or just software? Google's your friend

Maybe also the intake manifold - 130i/330i has the three stage intake, could be that the 125i (same 3.0l engine) has different software as well as the two stage intake. Basically like the E46 engines with a single DISA flap whereas the 130i/330i has two DISA flaps...

LOL, getting more grey hair thanks to this... :fencelook:

The 130i and 125i engines according to what i was told. The difference is the software with the 125i being detuned. You can get the 195kw if you do an aftermarket tune i am sure and hece the 130i performamce:thumbs:

I really doubt that it is just a tune. Too must risk of revenue loss for BMW. The difference between the 323 & 325 was much more than just a tune.

Probably software, intake, injectors and head that's different.

I've read on the Z4 2.0 2.3 2.5 and 3.0 All Differing in compression ratio, so I suspect different cam's and tunes as well, valves possibly too. Google will help you out
