Hey guys!

I'm looking into buying a new car as my wife drove mine over pavements...

So I've come to this, a new I m coupe or an m3 with a few km's on for the same price, full house and I know the guy personnally!

What would you buy and why?

(Both manuals)

Thanks

M3 - is and will always be the benchmark. The 1M will be a head turner...because it's ugly. Revo, 1M will retail for R549k.

Yes a 2009 m3 and the 1m coming next year!!

I love the n 54 for its tuning capabilities and straightline speed, the 1m will have the handeling aswell so its going to be a mean car!

The m3 is bigger and has got even beter handeling but lacks the power of a tuned n 54, but comes with way less problems like hpfp, wastegate rattles, plugs etc...
So really don't know...

Personally I think the m3 is the beter car but the n54 has the beter engin!!
Will wait for a turbo m3 to come, until then m1 it is

The 1M sounds like a glorified 135i and can be a very interesting toy! As far as I can find it will only come in a manual g/box.. I think its personal choice but I'm more for the E90/92 M3. And with minor mods it can also be a demon up at altitude!
If I would consider something in that line ill take a std 135I and open taps and have a wilder car for half the price of the 1M.

the 1m has the m3 gearbox , m3 suspenison , m3 diff .
besides the v8 engine there is not much "better in the m3"
i dislike the 135i because it lacks the m appeal , i think the 1m has fixed that .

its gonna be a killer , perhaps no faster in a straigline than a 135i but with the m3 goodies its gonna handle much better .

Owning the current M5 I would not recommend it.

In the aspect of the 1M or M3 I would go with the 1M due to the obvious power to rand spent advantage. As for the niggles of the motor you got a full five years of motorplan so would not worry about it.
If you planning to circuit race the car I would go for the M3. Corners do not like torque and the car becomes impossible if you going to run higher than 1bar of boost.

Its a very difficult choice and with the cars having a six year life these days its difficult to choose something when they are close to the end of the life span. If your current car is salvagable I would just stick with that and wait it out until the new models are on the horizon.

I would not buy a 1M at launch. Yes, it's an awesum car, but I would wait until all the bugs are sorted ...

Hence, I would buy the M3 for now and decide again in 2 years AFTER the 1M has proven itself locally. Also, M3's tend to hold value quite well, so if you buy one now, you should still be able to trade it in for a decent price if you want the 1M later.

My First M3 E90 had for 1 year, low mileage, manual, full house. I lost 80k on it.

If you buy an M3, its a keeper, you wont be able to break even until like 3 years of owning it.

IMHO, I love my M3.......would take M3 hands down......

Everything says ///M3 but I think that the prospect of the 1///M and the fact that it just looks so much hotter counts in its favour!!
