I think it will be, once this M based 1 is released in SA. Otherwise I'll modify this one after the motorplan

Hi Guys,

I am looking at buying a 135i Coupe. I have read mixed reviews, where some people say that it is awesome and others say that the handling is terrible.

Can anyone that has a 135i, please give me their opinion on the car? Is there anything that I need to be concerned about?

Regards,
Viv

It is an awesome car. I prefer it to the 335.

When I was at the Top Gear show Jeremy said that the 135 is 1 of the best BMW's he's driven.

Thanks Carbon.

How's the handling on it? I currently have an E90 320i with the M-sports pack and AC Schnitzer suspension on it, and the car is awesome around corners.

The handling is better than my 130i. I also got the M Sports pack.

It will be close to your handling (as you got the ACS kit), maybe better

Hey man i've the the 135i coupe sport model with the auto/steptronic box, and really the handling is great, very responsive, and very tight. The only real issue is that on slight bumps i tend to loose the rear a bit on heavy acceleration especially around corners, but other than that, i'm glad i spent the money on this car.
I'm definitely going to add the new performance suspension kit to it tho, and maybe when i save a bit more the performce kit.

Good luck with you purchase man.

Hey,

Prior to the pain I inflicted on it I had a great 135i in Manual. The car is much more lively than a 335i and handles really well with the MSport suspension. It is more "twitchy" than you would expect. This is a positive rather than a negative and the communication you get back from the wheel is right up there. Frankly it handles better than my new Z4 which suffers from being a bit "Soft". The car is highly confidence inspiring and I recon will rate as one of my favourite BMW's.

The only reason I opted for a Zed over another 135i is that they are 2 years from replacement. I tend to change cars every two years and that would have put me slap bang at model change... and i wanted to get out of my lease with limited cost!

They are really great cars.

Cheers

Thanks Schunic,

I bought the 135. The performance is impressive but I was a bit dissappointed in the stability and handling.... until I took it to Durbs last weekend. The handling is good... you just got to be careful not to upset the cars balance in the corner. Also make an awesome sound at the coast.

Yep,

Thats what I was referring to in its twichyness.... the wheelbase is relatively short and with that comes the propensity for it becoming unsettled if you aren't paying attention. To get the best out of a 1 series coupe you really have to take them by the scruff of the neck and really drive them! :) When you get it right it is definitely one of the more rewarding drives around.

Cheers
