[discussion] Matric dance advise
#1
Hi Guys,

Seems a bit strange to ask on this forum. My son knows that I am on this forum as we always discuss cars and the topics discussed here. He asked me to please get some advise for him relating to his matric dance.

Initially it was cancelled due to COVID but today was told that the dance will take place on the 30/10/2020.
Any one out there knows where we can get a kind of luxury/super car like a M5 or something fancy that will turn some heads as he put it. We are based on the East Rand in Kempton Park and the event is in Summer Place in Boksburg. The car will be used to drop him and his partner at the venue so it will just be a drop off.

He is also looking for suggestions to buy or rent a suit.

Any suggestions or advise is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Cant help with the Super car....

As for the Suit.....Go to Oriental Plaza in Fordsburg. They got some really nice suits from R1000. Just visit a few shops. They generally have almost the same suits but the prices differ alot.
Suits come in handy especially for interviews or other functions. Dont rent.

Not in JHB but second the above. Even if he's going to varsity first, get him a suit for the events that do come up that need something formal; funerals, weddings, church/religious stuff if you're into that.

Good luck to the kid! Hope the dance is a blast.

I have a 1969 VW Kombi I rent out for these kinds of functions. I find old cars turn many more heads compared to new cars Wink

In terms of the car, i dont know if any of us have supercars but i know there are definitely a few M cars on the forum and some genuine guys who could assist with the drop off.

with the suit, definitely agree with @KarshS do not rent, the rental will cost just nearly as much as a suit.

Theres a few places having some decent specials at the moment. Eurosuit has suits for R1k and I just saw on FB a few minutes ago that Geovanni in Fourways has Blazers for R500.00, pair that with some chinos and a nice shirt and the gentleman has a decent trendy suit Bluebiggrin

Check out the Zara stores... they've got some really nice slim fit suits... quality and price is also decent.

A good black 2 button suit is a must for any young man.

Have you tried calling ABM/Midrand Bmw to ask them if they could arrange a ride for your son? Maybe mention the forum and say you're willing to throw in a couple of bucks for the inconvenience.......what's the worst they could say? NO?

Wow.... awesome responses guys. Thank you all for the advise. We will discuss and hopefully get closer to some preparations for the dance.
Maybe will find some of you at the Oriental plaza this weekend. Never been there in years, many thanks for the suggestions.
I made suits in Thailand for less than R1000 each and they are awesome but won’t fit him.
The VW Kombi looks awesome but he says the chick won’t get in.... lol no offense.

A very special thank you to Christopher for offering his awesome M3 for my sons matric dance. It was very generous of Chris to wash and polish the car and go through the inconvenience of picking and dropping off at the event, then drive back to PTA from Boksburg.

A very kind gesture indeed and did not expect anything in return. So many good people out there and thanks to this forum for making it possible.

Here is the beaut on the day.

Thanks again Chris and enjoy the ride.

It was a pleasure and and honour to help out. As said there is no point owning stuff and just keeping them to yourself. It’s a pity your son didn’t want to drive it. Bluebiggrin

It was great meeting you and your family. Was really nice to just sit down and chat. COVID has really shown me to appreciate good company.
