I did this when I bought my used V60CC from a non-Volvo dealership, which had relatively low mileage for a 2016 model.
apparently these trackers were fitted standard because people were parking them and running away & claiming they were stolen.
LOL, its the only way to get some sorta money back, after buying a Volvo, as great and safe as they are, they have some of the worst resale values out there! My friend got offered 10k, yes 10k when she traded in her S40 for a V40

Every time you think of the bad depreciation on your big Merc or BMW, spare a thought for those in Volvos! They have some really good cars too.

I am on my 2nd Volvo - had a C30 in 2008 and now the V60CC.
I bought both cars used.
If you buy them 2-3 years' old, with 30,000km on the clock, they are great value cars.
Insurance is quite reasonable, and resale is actually pretty decent ONLY if you buy them used.
The m/plan can be extended to 7 years/140,000km and the old 5 cylinder cars are fairly robust and reliable.
Yes, out of plan maintenance is pricey at the dealers, but the same can be said of other premium cars as well.
I have a Porsche, but I prefer driving my Volvo more often!

This is exactly what was done to my x3. Traded it in on the Ranger and literally as I arrived at the Ford dealership there was a driver waiting to take the BM "cos it had already been sold in Joburg"

Couple weeks later it popped up on cars.co.za with just over 100k km on it... My trade in last km reading was 263k km.

The saving grace for anyone awake enough is they could take the Vin to a bmw and ask for service history. I had every service (bar 1 oil change at John Lodders Bosch facility which was recorded in the service book) done at SMG (now Supertech) BMW in Pmb.

The way my car presented it could well have been just over 100k km car. It was immaculate.

However as everyone here knows it had 1 major and 2 minor accidents. The major was recorded as done by ARC while to minors done by Autopanel in Pmb who do phenomenal work. The colour match etc was perfect.

So yeah... Buyer beware and alert. There's currently a 2009 Golf 5 Gti DSG for sale at a Pretoria dealer with 115k km for ZAR 179k... The car looks immaculate but the price is ridiculous. That said sometimes it is worth paying a premium for a used car if one can speak to the previous owner etc etc. Of course that may work for 1 owner cars... Possibly 2 like with my 320d. I was second my accountant bought it new.

Unreal! Still don't understand how these guys get away with it, if a reasonable buyer just does some basic homework!? Madness!

you'd think you would find them on the more desirable models, not the base 523i!
