Hyundai i30N
This morning on my way to work on Ontdekkers road an angry little red thing came past with lots of delicious vrrrpah pah pah noises on the over run it was the highlight of my day.

Couldn't take a photo because it was really shifting and weaving through traffic but I got to work and straight to the Hyundai website where the car is not listed. Called my buddy at Hyundai and he was surprised the thing is even in SA.

Are they being imported by private collectors? @Nick

It looks amazing especially in red, Sounds amazing and goes like a bullet. This new upcoming BMW 1 series has some serious competition if they are going to sell the i30N in SA.

Some pictures I found on the twitter sphere from @Mtura712 which shows the car is in SA.

RE: Hyundai i30N
Apparently they are being sold and they start from R700k... which is shocking but they might just have the market.

RE: Hyundai i30N
Seems like it has 275hp/205kw from the factory, not bad considering the Golf GTi, Focus ST, etc. Outputs..

But 700k for a Hyundai Hatch Fencelook

They are here in SA. Another one of those where you have to buy the car before you can test drive it...

Let's see how that goes for them... Toyota has already called me back offering a discount on the Supra and to buy me out of my CS deposit...

I think the pricing is not going to work for them. Even the more established marques are struggling. I also don't think either the Veloster or Stinger launches were successes... let's see how this one goes.

RE: Hyundai i30N
Word on the street is that the pricing went according to the number of cars they have and in a way makes them limited... me and a few people said we would rather buy a 2nd M2 for that price honestly.

RE: Hyundai i30N
Used M2s are also why nobody is buying Supras.

I don't think many folks realise just how good the M2 and M2 Competition are - they tick so many boxes its unreal - not just for lovers of BMW. These guys in product management and marketing at Toyota/Honda/Hyundai/Kia etc need to drive the Porsche 718, Carrera T, BMW M2C and M3 etc. THEMSELVES...

These are not cars bought by your average person that can be swayed by what a brochure or sales person or obviously biased sellout-youtuber or media review.

They lose credibility by using 1990s economy car sales tactics selling an enthusiast car in 2019

SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND RANDS????

Skit

That is eye watering. The other day I was complaining that VW pricing is out of this world with the Microbus almost a million rands and Amarok going for R800k. Seems all cars manufacturers are just wilding.

Car prices lately are ridiculous, I knew this when I saw a Suzuki swift sport 2019 being sold for R365k.

I think they missed the point. If you not one of the big Germans, you have to be cheaper, otherwise you just wont sell any cars.

RE: Hyundai i30N
@Dirtydeedsman you have to buy the car before they let you drive it Rofl

@Nick you need to become the product manager for the performance line... they could do really well and build up a following, but with this approach I can see it leading to frustration for potential buyers.
