E90 335i or 330d, maybe X3 3.0d
Hello Fantatics,

Hope you guys could help me out to decide the way forward.

I'm basically looking to upgrade from my lemon car (e90 320i n46b20). I've honestly spent more on this car than what's it's worth but hey.

Anyways, I'm looking at getting a 2011/2012 e90 LCI 335i ot 330d

Now, having been in BillyBobs e92 335i which was only slightly modded at the time, was a dream to be in.

Cant get over that noise from the turbo charged straight 6.
But on the other hand, I've heard about reliability issues in the n54/n55 engines.

The other day a fellow fanatic bought some poly bushes from me and he drove a 330d lci which ticked all the right boxes.

I've currently been borrowing a friends 320d e90 while my car is in the workshop.
I've hands down enjoyed the car, power wise and fuel efficiency. But I do feel the little 2litre lacks on the top end.

So I'd like to hear everyone's feedback with their experience about the two and how they'd go about deciding.

I dont do alot of driving (less than 10k a year)

Both cars private sellers, have about 140k~160k kms on the clock and looks well looked after. Both Msport

I'd be open to an x3 3.0d but have never had experience with them

Thanks guys.

Can't go wrong with the 330d Lci bud. Reliable, efficient and plenty of grunt. If your into tuning both the 330d and 335i will both tune up nicely, but I'm bias towards the 330d simply because we own one and know what they are capable of. smile bounce

Maybe I'm bias but 330d any day, the last thing you want after a lemon is a temperamental N54/N55...

Haha seems like it.... @sleepa 330d sounds almost like a 335

being fortunate enough to have owned both... 330D all day any day.

Sure, the 335 N54 is amazing and pulls when modded. BUT, give that 330d some 1010101 loving with a downpipe, it trumps the 335 all day any day with performance/efficiency and reliability. i merely just serviced my 330d vs the 335 i had so many repairs; vanos, waterpump, dv's, radiator... it was always a worry of "what's gonna happen next"

Thanks for the kind words...

The car sounds wild at full throttle.
