So I have owned my E39-530d for 12 years
Purchased at 120 000km, and now on 275 000km
The last 2 years, "old faithfull" has let me down too many times, and with my new "salaried employment" status, I cannot afford to be behind the wheel of a vehicle which is trending more and more to letting me down.
So with a long thought out logical plan, it was time to look at a replacement
My first plan was to buy the Z4 as a dedicated standby car, ( https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=84776 ) should I be left as a "pedestrian" for any length of time.
but still
old faithfull was still my main area of concern
I coudn't sell her privately on the forum, with all the latent issues, lying in wait for the new owner, so even though I was looking around the forum at the cars for sale section, I knew I was probably going to buy external to the forum, and the inherent dangers of buying an unkown quality car (car sales men will never declare any latent faults on purpose)
The new car would have to come via a dealership, that would also (without too many questions) take "old faithfull" as a trade in
and then I found one....AND IT SPOKE TO MY HEART....it wasn't just a logical decision, I COULD ACTUALLY SEE MYSELF IN IT, for the next 12 years plus

and so late Friday afternoon the E39-530d undertook its last journey, and the return ride was in the new car,
I hope it is a mechanically good decision, for reliability, the heart was already sold !
PS....Can anyone tell me what the circled remote is used for ?, I haven't pushed it yet, for fear of the unknown.
Some pics taking at the Sport grounds, car is still running on a dealer permit, will get registered early next week
Those "LOW" kilometres where cross checked twice by me, via motorplan records,
the engine bay is brand new, sqweeeky clean
She drives comfortably, no rattles, no vibrations, feels like a new car
