Lost keys found
Today I found a set of BMW keys in one of the rooms at work.

Put a note out and even sent the person using the room before me an email to communicate to his attendees if they lost a key. No reply yet, and no one has reported a missing key to security either.

I wish there were some way to find the owner as I'm sure these fobs cost a fortune to replace. Not to mention the person will probably be frantic when they need to go home.

And no BMW near me to get the key scanned for owner's details. Would be nice if there was a code on the fob to call in to BMW.

Make sure security is with you at the time , so they know you checking for the car
and not pulling a move , Could turn out ugly if you alone even with good intentions

RE: Lost keys found
Dont drive it, see which car it opens, get the security to check who drove it in.

If you have security that is.

RE: Lost keys found
Thanks gents. There are 4 different parking areas with multiple stories.. I think I'll be walking around forever :-) I'll wait until the end of the day, if no one claims it I will drop it off with security...

Just feel sorry for the person, as I hear those remotes are around R3K each...

RE: Lost keys found
BMW has a key reader at each service advisor's table. Ask them to maybe read it to pick up the vin number.

RE: Lost keys found
Thanks gents for the responses.

I ended up handing the key to security at our company and found out the gent who lost the keys went through to collect late yesterday afternoon.

At least he saved himself a few thousand rands for a replacement Thumbs

An invention idea: Key Find app =)

Thumbs there is one already, and you get a small Tag/Key ring that is on the key, it works fairly well. I got a whole bunch of these units from eBay.

Looks nice and neat, and can you use an app on your phone or PC to locate the key? Would be nicer if vehicle manufacturers could invent something that can be built into the fob, so it is not like an external key ring.
