Hi i fell in love with the BMW brand in 2010 when I bought my first bmw. It was a 2006 320i e90 88 000km manual base model.

In 2013 i traded it in at 140 000km for a 2010 320d e90 Dynamic edition auto 46 000km. The power and the torque was incredible. Didn't know that diesels could produce that kind of power and torque and 1000km per tank.

In 2015 i made the biggest mistake and sold it at 74 000km for a 2014 320i F30 m sport auto 19 000km. The pros was the look and the ride quality. The cons was the consumption, higher insurance and numerous interior rattles which made it unbearable to drive.

In 2016 while the 320i was getting a service i spotted my previous car the 320d and it was for sale. I decided to pay the shortfall for the 320i and get my diesel back with no motorplan. Test drive 100%. Mileage 93 000km. Needed tyres and the leather needed cleaning. At 97 000km i changed the oil ( LL04 @ R170 per litre ), oil filter, diesel filter, air filter, cabin filter and a set of michelin zp rft.

In May 2017 at 101 000km i fitted a downpipe at flowtech exhaust. Software was done on 11 May by a reputable tuner. The ecu was sent to their hq in joburg. Picked up the car on the 12th and during the test drive noticed a vibration. Before was 115kw 368nm and after 140kw 432nm. Prior to software the car ran smooth. Decided to give it some time to settle down.

Now on 107 000km and 4 months later the vibration is still there. The vibration is only at 1800rpm to 2000rpm when accelerating on a flat or incline not when stationery. The vibration is in the seats and mostly the steering wheel. SPORT mode no vibration as the rpm is above 2000. Vibration is more noticeable in higher gears. If I'm doing 80km on the freeway and i give it 75% throttle without kick down as soon as the needle goes between 1800rpm to 2000rpm the vibration starts. Before and after the specified rpm range it's smooth. No power loss. Spoke to the tuner and was given a few options. He can flash it back to stock, turn down the map or reflash if bmw flashes it to stock. Car went to bmw on 2 September to be programmed. They reprogrammed the gearbox only as the values were way off and a fault code of 004862 air system, air to EGR mass flow, plausibility came up. Suspension and engine mountings were checked. Consumption still great. When looking at the history it was never a problematic car.

Thanks. The link that I posted above is about an issue I had with the car.

Anyway the problem is almost sorted out and now it's on to the cosmetic mods that I've been planning for awhile. First up a shark fin cover that i bought from sparesboyz today. Black bmw badges for bonnet, boot, rims and steering wheel. The 320d badge in gloss black. I sprayed that myself. Hopefully these will be fitted in the next two days. I will update with pics.

RE: 320d lci Dynamic edition
The hardest part was getting everything to line up straight. For Christmas I received a meguiars clay kit and wax so now was the time to try it out. On that note my car is in desperate need of a clay, polish and wax. The top of the back bumper feels like sandpaper and u can see a lot of brown spots. Only in May I can get that sorted out.

These are the badges that I purchased.

I sprayed my original badges. I took them off the car about a year ago. Used rustoleum matte black as I had that and then rustoleum clear gloss over it. It came out good. If I messed it up I would just buy one. Saw them on eBay.

The steering wheel was shiny and sticky when I purchased the car. There were a few scratches as well. Tried a few products and nothing worked. One product I applied too much pressure and dye came off. Then I messed up by using thinners and a lot of the dye came off. The shine and stickiness was gone but now it was patchy. My last effort to fix it I sprayed duplicator vinyl and fabric matte black paint on it. Everything else was covered in plastic so no over spray. It's almost a year now and no fading or transfer and leather is still soft. I just wipe it with a damp microfiber when I'm washing the car. They sell leather covers that can be fitted. It's just the sewing that's the problem but it will come out original. I even saw one with the tri colour steering. Maybe one day I'll give it a try.

The steering trim was also painted as the rubber coating was peeling.

I meant to say tri colour stitching.
