RE: My new Ride - Non BMW Content
Looks like the OBD is a tad optimistic on your car.

850km on 51l gives around 16.67km/l which is 5.9l/100km.

Still crazy good consumptionThumbs

RE: My new Ride - Non BMW Content
I have been nursing this car since the day I got it and the glow plug light came on a few times throwing the car into limp. It went off after switching the car on and off a few times.

So on Thursday night I was driving home and the roads were empty, so I decided to give this car some stick and clear a few cobwebs from the engine bay

So then the east rand in me came out and I was proper windgat and since then, the car never threw any lights or faults

Huge Shout out goes to @Panic for giving the car a once over this weekend. I had a sigh of relief once he told me that everything is in order an is doing what it should. the car is up for front and rear pads soon.

He also advised that I should DRIVE the car now and again to prevent the DPF from clogging which was causing the dash to light up

The car should go in to my panelbeater after DUBfest to get a nose job and a butt lift

Oh and I did my first mod

Pics to follow

RE: My new Ride - Non BMW Content
So the past few weeks have been quite hectic , February, which is the shortest month of the year felt like a lifetime as life kept throwing curve balls. Im just glad its over. a few weeks ago the dash kept lighting up causing the car to go into Limp mode, after much reading up I figured that the egr may be acting up. I decided to set aside a Saturday to remove it and give it a good clean.

So I reversed the car into my garage so it could be cool enough to work on and set up a table with the tools to on the Friday night

I figured that it shouldn't take me more than a few hours, Boy was I wrong, wrong at the fact that im not as young and fit as I was 15 years ago,

boy this car fukced me up properly and I have the scars/cuts and bruises to prove it, I was certain that when I went into the shower the water would have pushed me over

Anyhoo, this was a **** job and this car really thought me humility

The EGR sits behind the motor, below the turbo and it as long as a loaf of bread, after eventually getting it out, stripping it and giving it a good clean, I figured that it was sorted given the k@k that came out of it

As soon as I assembled everything, and started the car, the dash lit up again, and to make matters worse, the car now had a slight oil leak (I had to remove the oil pipe from the turbo so I could get the EGR valve out. man I was upset. I was eventually told that I could switch off the EGR and DPF on the car, My first port of call was Panic, He could not assist as he was away. I was sort of desperate and needed transport for work and school so I spoke to another tuner who shall be nameless at this time as he is not a vendor on this forum and I think its unfair to give him a free plug (anyone wants his details can PM me), he said that he can do the dpf and egr with software, but advised me to just do the ERG and DPF delete for now to ascertain that could sort the problem out. He also advised to do a decat as the lights would no longer come on

I had the car towed to him and after a day he called to say that the car was sorted, and I should drive it to make sure all is in order before doing the SW.

I picked up the car on Thursday and covered about 550kms and all seemed fine.

This past weekend I decided to do the decat. Instead of fitting an aftermarket DP, I wanted to retain the OEM look. after watching a few videaos on YT, I was a bit apprehensive about the exhaust tone and after the advice of 8VALVE-zn, (Big ups to you brother) I went ahead with the decat. this was also a k@k job as the drive shaft had to come out :bang: once the DP was removed I noticed that there is a cat that sits on top, and the DPF sits below it. after cutting it open and removing all the guts bar the CAT( I was advised to leave that in place), fitment was rather easy. I done about 300 kms now and the car has a slight sportier tone, response seems better as well as the fuel consumption, to date I have never seen a puff of smoke when pulling away. I want to cover about 1000kms before the car goes back for the SW

Oh, and the oil leak has been fixed...

Onto the pics

Gees bru, so much effort, I know the feeling, trying to sort one thing out and the next pops up can be very frustrating but knowing you got it right at the end is an awesome feeling.

RE: My new Ride - Non BMW Content
So I managed to get the software done this Saturday

Logan from Vortex performance Initially switched off the EGR and DPF on the vehicle a few months ago and after the wonderful service I got from him, I decided to take the car back to him

The car has covered about 100kms since and it definitely does feel like a 2.0 DSG, lots of torque and very responsive, my fuel gauge hasn't moved much even tho I have been a bit windgat

I will monitor properly once I refill the tank

I also managed to fit a temporary sound system while I save up for a proper brand like RF Or Kicker components

This was also a learning experience as it is not as simple as wiring up a Golf 1

I was quite surprised at the size of the amp

I am busy hunting/collecting some parts that may also need painting before the car goes in to repair the little eina at the back

I am also fighting with the dealership as they told me the flywheel was replaced, after some digging around, I found out that it was not. Once that is sorted, I will consider a DSG file

Anyhoo, im am really enjoying this car,

Im planning on taking it on a long drive this weekend to see how it fares on an open road
