F30 Doors pin ruttle

Hi Guys, I need help, 3 of my doors lock pins rattles, it's the plastic pin that rattles against the plastic hole it sits in. There is just enough movement that certain bumps will cause the pin to knock into the surrounding material. Only one of the rear doors doesn't have the same problem as that pin sits under some kind of tension. The driver door is worse, it actually drives me nuts and makes want to sell my car

Does anyone have this problem and quick cheap fix.

Thanks in advance.

I thought I was the only one. Mine started rattling after lowering the car.
I’m going to check for an aftermarket option buttons or would have to strip the door panel and investigate.

All BMWs have them. Personally I quite like them - it’s a simple way to check if the door is locked whether you’re inside the car or outside.

Not sure how different the door pins are compared to my 120d E87 but my rear left doors pin was getting stuck down and did not pop up. Dont have any rattles.

When i removed the Door panel, The pin/plastic tip is connected to a long angled/bent rod and this pushes against the inside of the door padding.

Perhaps this door padding has worn out causing it to sit loose or vibrate against metal.

On my 1 series, it was easy to remove the door panel so perhaps remove one of the panels and check if something is perhaps rubbing or loose.

The Drivers door on our F30 Lci has rattled like that since new , My friends F30 does the same as well as a few other cars that I have sat in , Its so annoying . I had asked the dealership about this and they told me they know about the problem but dont have a fix for it , It effects so many cars . I thought about taking the door panel off and adding some soft fluffy tape to it at the base of the pin .
But since the cars under warranty and motorplan , I didn't bother yet . The door panel I have noticed on both cars are also not of the same quality compared to that of my E46 , you can push it in or down and it will creak. Getting to know the F30 , I really think BMW cut a few corners on this model compared to the E46 . The quality is just not the same . I feel as if my E30 even puts this car to shame in some places.

The fix is to replace the plastic part around the door pin, part number 51417316859 for the front doors and 51427316860 for the rear doors. there are three pins or small legs inside those things that keeps the door lock pin under tension. The part is R309 at the dealership and you can DYI, don't be afraid of taking the old one from the door panel, you have to force it out with two, small flat screw drivers. Don't worry about breaking them because they are already broken, hence the rattles
But R309 for such a small plastic stuff,:dunnoanymore:, is a bit too much, so for the rear door once, I used Velcro and stuck it with super glue inside, on the walls of those plastic parts where the legs broke off. If you are going to re-use the old part, you have to be gentle when removing it, to avoid damaging it. The rattles are now gone and my car feels like a real car now :smilebounce:
will upload pictures later
