E46 330d boost noise
Hey guys, went and test drove a 330d earlier. It's the 2002 135kW model. Car didn't really pull that well, boost only sort of came in around 3k+ rpm. The biggest concern though is the noise it was making on boost. Attached is a video I made:

What could this be? Sounds awful. From memory, the 330d boosts much from below 2k rpm and pulls harder as the revs climb. I couldn't actually hear the turbo boosting. The power also does not seem smooth, there are like steps in it while the revs approach the red line. I didn't notice any smoke from the car though and apparently the turbo was replaced by BMW around 4 years ago.

Please help guys, I need to decide whether to go with the car or walk away. Thanks.

Common boost leak spot is where the charge pipe meets the intercooler.
