X 3 2007 Tranfer case problems
I Have a bmw X3 and the lights on the dash came on , 4x4 abs ect. I have removed and replaced the gear , but there was nothing really wrong with old 1. We cleared lights , but nothing has changed , the 3 lights still on the dash and still having same problems with new gear . What else becides the plastic gear can cause these problems.BlueCry

Tyre size is usually the culprit, the difference in diameter throws the error. Either that or have codes read.

Old BMWs never die, they just get faster!

I would start by checking the fuses. If you have someone to help you, try get under the car and let someone turn on the ign, see if you can hear the motor setting.

RE: X 3 2007 Tranfer case problems
All the tires should be the same brand, size and pressure if possible. Also, the wear should also be about the same. X3's are very sensitive to the above items. If the lights stay on try and reset them with diagnostic tool. If then still on it is most probably the transfer case that is in need of a refurbish, about R12k. You can drive the car with the electrical connector on the transfer case disconnected. Car will then be two wheel drive (rear wheel driven) with no problem, been driving mine like that now for close to seven months, no problems! Come to think of it, it could also be a abs sensor on one of the wheels. Take them out and clean them before replacing them, they are often full of mud, oil, etc.
