This is not a DIY guide...please Google for that.

This is to introduce the Rennzport Catless Downpipes (DPs) and to share our impressions & experiences. We have the DPs on a few customers cars since we introduced these DPs to the public in October 2009. We have not received any difficulties or problem feedback on the DPs so far.

Specifications:
There are different sizes of DPs on the market but the configuration is generally very similar; determined by the space configuration where the DPs have to fit. The most popular size DP's is 3inch throughout, but this is also very difficult to install because it takes up almost all the existing space. Rennzport have both sizes available but opted to promote the 2.5inch with the following specs:
* Catless Downpipes
* Locally manufactured & installed if required
* 3" cat belmouth tapering to the factory 2.5" exhaust
* Polished
* 304 Stainless Steel
* Light Weight

There is also aftermarket catted and catless DP's, with the catless DPs providing more power since it deletes all restriction flowing immediately from the turbos.
Here are pictures of our own locally manufactured catless Downpipes:

Installation:
To install the DPs yourself is not going to be easy. This is primarily due to the limited space and location of the stock DPs. But it can be done if you have mechanical experience but will be time consuming. Set aside at least 3 hours or more to get the installation perfect. The car needs to be raised to get to the underbelly of the car. A normal ramp is fine (I build my own permanent ramp at home) which raises the front of the car with about 1meter standing on the wheels. Just enough to get a good view and to manoeuvre ones body underneath. But it is not ideal for a comfortable install of the DPs. We recommend an exhaust shop to do this for you where the car can be properly & securely raised.

Basic garage tools such as the appropriate wrenches/screwdriver/sockets/pliers and strong arms are sufficient to remove the stock and install the new DPs.

Variable BMS Downpipe Fix
When you replace your stock DP's with catless downpipes the car will throw engine error codes due to the removal of the catalytic converters. There are software based fixes for this and our own BMS downpipe fix; which can be removed when you sell your car one day. Essentially the DP fix fools the ECU to think that the catalytic converters are still in place as well as “eliminates timing pull, oxygen sensor miscalibration, check engine lights and tuning headaches associated with high flow exhaust systems. Installs in the ECU area and is compatible with all BMW tunes and chips and fully adjustable.:clap:
We installed the DP fix a week before removing the stock DP's without any problems to date or need to adjust. The DP fix is also completely variable, in other words you can adjust it to the exact strength that you require to keep those trouble codes at bay. In the picture you can see the little blue dial which can be adjusted:

Lambda sensors (02 Sensors):
These are the four (4) sensors two at the front of the DP's and two at the rear that plug into the stock DP's. See pictures. Now many people that have installed aftermarket DP's have either broken/bent or fouled their sensors. It is absolutely important that these sensors are installed GENTLY because they damaged so easily. It will cost over R3 000 (each) to replace them, so be careful.
Here is a picture of our full 3inch coated DPs with two of the lambda sensors installed. Please note we do not sell or promote the powder or ceramic coated DPs because it is too expensive. But email or PM Revo for a discussion:

Here you can see the potential damage to the sensors due to problematic install:

When purchasing Downpipes from abroad it will be shipped with blanco screws (such as in the pics).

Steering Rack:
For an easier installation you may have to push the steering rack brackets out of the way. Now this in itself is not a problem, but it does throw out the alignment of the car, especially if you have an aftermarket suspension kit. So be sure to check your wheel alignment after the installation.

Performance
We could not establish any difference in the delivery of power on the dyno between the two sizes of DPs other than sound. The 3 inch pipes sound deeper almost hollow whilst the 2.5 sound slightly sharper and racier.

Running the car with catless DPs but without a tune is useless. A tune is necessary to get the full benefit of the DPs.

With our JB3 tune, intercooler, stock airbox and (adding) our catless DPs, we achieved a best gain of 18kw on map 7.

Outputs WILL vary and can be higher based on the chosen performance maps and the use of other power modifications such as meth or race fuel and of course dyno conditions.
In addition to the extra power from the catless DPs, the car also breaths better and you get the benefit of less stress/strain on the turbos.

Purchase:
The DPs will be available with a lead time of two days from ordering if you are in the Western Cape and perhaps an extra day for delivery to another Province. Email REVO for a price
and shipping requirements. :thumbsup::thumbsup:
We look forward to your emails...:excited:

Baracus, i just edited the post to clarify that we do not promote or sell the powder or ceramic coated pipes because it is so expensive. But Revo will have a discussion with you about it. "....'n boer maak a plan...":thumbsup:

On your dps, you said with the dp fix you only installed 1 o2 sensor on each dp.
Is it the one closest to the turbos or the exhaust?
Will pm you when my performance exhaust is fitted on monday, waited 9 weeks for it!!!
I personally think you have a great product and can't wait to see how the perform against ar's dps from the usa as I have them on my car!

1. Closest to the turbos (front sensors)
2. Why change DPs if you have AR already? The only difference is the width of the pipes after the bellmouth...the configuraction of the DPs on the N54 are all the same...same space that you can work with...I suggest, if you have AR stick with it/save your money....the performance difference is negligible and not worth the cost or the experiment. :thumbsup:

Its not for my car, and we only want to test the difference in performance as I don't see the point of importing dps if we can get local products that is just as good if not better.

Our dp's are ready.. And we decided to make them to keep all 4 sensors.
Please pm or email for pricing.

Why did you decide to do both the sensors instead of 1 like you origanally planned?

I think its better they did it like that, then they dp's can cater for the guys that are running flash software too.

When installing the cattles DP´s like in this post and using the BMS O2 fix connected to ecu...should i connect both the sensors to the new pipe, or only 1/new pipe?

All the sensors have to be connected as it was on the OEM downpipes. :thumbs:

The sensors are expensive. Only buy them if you get a bad code related to the lamdas...
