I am so in!!!!
It will require dedicated management and a plan. For example will members vote for the car of the month? Will the cars be randomly selected? From which pool will cars be chosen - from the forum "showroom" for example?
I was thinking that any member with more than 100 posts would be eligible to nominate his or her favourite car for the month, in a dedicated thread, as Jandre suggested. 5 or 10 or 20 "thank you's" under a particular nomination would then validate that car as a contender (or something along those lines). This would then give us X number of cars that could be considered for car of the month voting.

Cool idea.
How about i create a new sub section, ie car of the month.
On the first of every month we create a new thread, and whoever wants to enter their car, do so, with a max of three images per post. The post with the most thank you's wins the month, and gets his 3 pics featured on the home page for the first week of the following month.
Obviously this is just a suggestion, and if all agrees, is something that i must discuss with the other mods first, so this is by no means a go just yet.
This is an excellent idea Jandre

raise:, and as RAArmstrong suggested, a short write up to go along with the pictures would also give us a quick insight into the work that the owner has put into the vehicle.

I would also like to suggest that a category for mechanical improvements and mechanical maintenance.
example...Flash Gordon's E39 isn't especially modified with carbon bits and bobs, but heck it is one cared for 400K + fine example of how to care for ones BMW, and then there is Crash's M3 that also deserves a mention due to the mechanical mods....and not to mention the almost "Anal" search for the absolute "right" E39-530d that squire Armstrong did, and ended up with a PRIME EXAMPLE, with absolutely low KM's and a manual to boot.....all examples of dedication to the brand
so its not all about the aesthetic external mods of carbon this and carbon that, but also the care taken to pamper ones pride, or awesome mechanical mods done etc etc
I agree with you Ralf
Each of the examples you used highlights the fact that the owners have taken the time to find, build, maintain their cars in such a way that when you think of a particular model, one of their cars immediately comes to mind. The examples of work done that I mentioned in my initial post merely highlighted the same principal.
Any BMW/MINI could be nominated as car of the month, based purely of the fact that the fanatic that owns it has taken the time/effort to put in the blood/sweat/tears that makes his or her car stand out from all the others as an example that any of us could be proud to call their own.
Keep the feedback coming guys :=):
