The Breakfast at Maranellos and the run out past Philadelphia to Fairview was a great success and we had a fantastic bunch of people getting together, my wife and children enjoyed it too. I agree with the guys that attended the breakfast that we should get together for family runs like this more often maybe even once a month and I will be happy to join and help organise if needed.
But it also got me thinking about a big summer event we could hold and get media, suppliers and maybe even other clubs involved.
I would like to propose a potential future event, in order to start getting some feedback and suggestions.
I am having dinner with friends of mine, Mike and Jacky, that took over the HillCrest Quarry Venue recently. The venue has a large grass area next to a lake formed by the quarry. There is a permanent Tent structure that serves as a large hall.
Mike and Jacky are quite well known in the are for organising fantastic festivals like the Oyster Fest and the Durbanville Beer Fest. They also have access to many of the local bands who they often include at their festivals.
They recently hosted a world water polo event at the quarry turning the lake into water polo pens.
Any way I thought it might be great to start planning a big show and shine event for summer now. The grass area could be used for the show cars and stalls.
There is plenty of parking up top on the hill and the venu is just so panoramic almost totally surrounded by the Quarry cliffs.
We could maybe arange a family picnic there in spring as a family outing just to check the place out.
So guys will you start giving me some feedback before tomorrow night when I dine with Mike and Jacky so that I have some ideas to discuss with them
