Spotted a graphite 335d at cedar isle BMW today.
I didn't know that the 335d ever came to SA or am I wrong?

Well, considering they are selling the 535d, makes sense to sell the 335d aswell.

Could never figure out why they did not launch the 335d locally in the first place

I also don't think bmw will bring in the 335d, if they do it most likely be a lot more pricey than than the 330d.
Also just imagine you driving in your 335i, just to be passed by a 335d, and struggling to catch him, all while he gets 16km/l doing 250km/h :)

It most likely was brought in by a returning expat, although they would probably regret it later on down the line as if it's a Euro spec engine they'll struggle with the poor diesel in SA. Going to need a lot of servicing or your own special refinery!

I don't see why? The only thing in the modern cars that will have a problem with even 500ppm diesel is the diesel particulate filter in the exhaust, and even the new ones should be fine with our 50ppm diesel. Plus, you can remove it without any detriment...

Also keep in mind that we are getting the 535d here... and the X5 in 40d which is the same engine.
