Advice on what to do/or who could help me

Hey

So on Monday I decided to wash my car and after I was done and since my car now stays mainly outdoors as its for sale, I did what I usually do and put the car cover back on.

I did exactly what I’ve been doing for the last 10 months, but yesterday I decided that I did’nt want to use the cover anymore and when I removed it this is what I found.

Somehow through a tear in the cover some water got in after it had rained and it sat for a whole day like that….Basically the cover somehow was unable to breath and that is probably what caused it.

My dad took it to a friend of his who tried to buff and sand and polish and so on but still no difference.

I have found this occurance on another forum where the detailer explains that it is possible to get it off but I don’t know what to do. Do I attempt to do it myself or do I get the hood resprayed?..... but I’d prefer if there was someone who could guarantee me that they could get it out and I just pay them.

What do I do? Please advise

Thanks

Ouch! That's a nasty thing to have happen. Always had reservations about the use of car covers, but mainly because of the risk of scratching the paintwork - but this is a much bigger problem in reality. I would say get hold of a good detailer, someone who knows what they are doing! Looks like it is correctable according to that thread above... Good luck - let us know how it turns out!!

Hey Philip

I think i just need to find a good detailer and have them sort it out as i personally would'nt want to respray.......By the look of that thread I'm pretty sure it could be sorted out.

Will let you guys know what happens.

Carn is in JHB, and he has the tools to measure the paint thinkness for safe cutting. Has the bonnet been sprayed before? Also how long has it been like this?

from that link it looks like it is in the clear coat so you should be able to get it out and not respray i was worried the sun could have bleached the colour so its good news :)

Hey Cole

Good idea.....It did'nt even cross my mind.

Lets see if i'll be able to sort it out and if not will then I'll look into some other options.

Thanks guys for all your help and advice so far.

:bawling: sad state of affairs.....I hate covers in the open as they tend to get rather hot under them. :hammerhead:

Good luck getting it restored....maybe you should attend the Meguires advanced course with us. :)

Hey SKYF

Thanks for the advice. Will definately first try and have it sorted out like you suggested. If no result then I'll consider a different route.

Thanks

Hey Lambchop

Just the Detailer i was waiting for..............

Was considering giving Carn a miss and coming straight to you as he is to far out (Boksburg)

I know you quite busy but i'd really appreciate it if you could PM me your number and then we could set-up an appointment or something when possible.

Let me know, if you don't mind....

Thanks and take care

Hey

So i was going to pay Lambchop a visit for him to try and sort the issue out but after leaving the car out in the sun for a few days.......that markings on the bonnet all disappeared.......

Its like the sun dried it out of the clear or something.

Just happy i did'nt have to respray.

Thanks again Lambchop.
