I Would contact BMWSA or whoever directly. Don't bother with a dealership. If that doesn't work email the gentlemen in Germany......I'm sure all the relevant contact details should be easy to find

That fitting is called the dirt buster, but I doubt karcher designed it for cars. It is used to remove dirt off paving, walls, ceilings etc, not cars....

THe vari lance, the other fitting is deisgned for cars and will not damage the paint unless used at the highest setting at close range on weak paint.

I have sprayed over a peeling bumper(bought it like that) with my attachments and never had any more paint peel off

That dirt buster thing is the one I used, learned the hard way never to use it on the car again BlueCry
The other fitting is fine and yes, with that one, the paint doesn't peal off

Is it possible that there was some containment on someone's hands when they closed the bonnet, like a petrol attendant who had brake fluid residue, Ive seen brake fluid eat the clear coat like that...

RE: F30 330d Paint peeling Estoril blue
It happened to my previous vehicle. Rear bumper had a slight trolley knock, and the high pressure cleaner took a piece of the clear coat off.
Perhaps the same has happened here but because of a stone chip.

If warranty covers, is it not 3 years?

RE: F30 330d Paint peeling Estoril blue
SmashScreen paint is crap on BMW these days, thats not from the pressure washer, I use pressure was regularly.
or for a strange reason you had break fluid messed on the paint but that would have effected the Blue also. RedNo

RE: F30 330d Paint peeling Estoril blue
If it didn't happen in 2 years and suddenly appeared I think it is likely a contaminant or the pressure story. I have seen guys abuse the pressure washers at car washes to remove insects and bird droppings etc. Birds these days also seem to be eating some interesting things...

The car wash lances are not quite dirt blasters, but they are a lot more aggressive in many instances than the Karchers although even the Vario Lance can cause damage with bigger machines if you are basically on the surface with the nozzle.

Long story short, I had the same thing happen on a car a long time ago. Caused by weakened clear due to bird droppings that had baked on for a week and finished off by a lance at a car wash.

Panel shop might be able to give you an answer (or at least an expert opinion) on whether it is a poor paint job on the bumper/entire car or actual damage to the paint (which you can then maybe use as leverage with BMW if it is the former)

There wasn't any stone chips there and I won't allow a gas station attendant into my car's engine bay.

I just hope BMW fixes it for me.

I sent this to my salesman there, he read the message and saw the image, but didn't reply.

This is shocking, I knew the paint was 'thinner' on the F chassis but if the clear-cote is this bad.. Hmm might as well wrap the car and get it done with..

RE: F30 330d Paint peeling Estoril blue
Most people on the 4x4 forum think something happened prior to me picking up the car when I bought it.

And then they fixed it and sold it to me without mentioning it.

So, ja. I don't know...

Just want to get it fixed so I can let the car go. I need a bakkie for the bush life. These 19" wheels ram like a wheelbarrow on these rubbish roads.

Brilliant car though.

If it is indeed poor paint quality, that's very bad form from BMW's part Thumbdown

RE: F30 330d Paint peeling Estoril blue
Hi all

I am very happy to report that Motorplan will pay for the repair AND they'll give me a loan car while it's being fixed. Clapper=)

Thanks to John, the workshop manager at Leo Haese Pretoria for fighting the good fight for me! I REALLY appreciate it.

This here, is why I have bought three 330ds since 2010, even though I live out in the sticks.

BMW's customer service is really fantastic. TyTyTy
