The General's Gen2 Ducati Diavel Carbon

Hi all.
So as part of my garage journey, some will know I have the Ducati now, after moving to the fairest Cape.

I purchased it from Bikeshop Rivonia without seeing or riding the bike, Berto sent videos, photos and anything else I needed. And had the bike delivered to my door.

So here she is, 2016 Ducati Diavel Carbon.
Full Ducati Performance extras, from Billet Grips to Fluid Resevoirs.

Had to do some maintenence On the breather hose that was leaking. So it was a nearly full strip down, but got it done.

Then back on the road for the true purpose...

She is full Carbon, so all panels and fairings are Carbon fibre, and she feels light compared to other Diavels ive ridden.

She is an absolute beast on the road, and so far been worth every penny.

I have an aftermarket warranty, which ive claimed already from for the Fuel Level Sensor which is a common failure.
And also for the Starter/Sprag Clutch failure. All new lightened parts fitted, and she runs well again.

Need a new rear tyre soon, and with a 240 profile, its a big tyre for a bike, only lasts around 4000km, then new one needed.

Last warranty work also included new oil, new coolant and new front Brakes, along with 4 new Spark plugs (V Twin motor with 2 plugs per cylinder. )

Just to show my ignorance ... why does the tread pattern on the front wheel of bikes run in the "opposite" direction?

Just to show my ignorance ... why does the tread pattern on the front wheel of bikes run in the "opposite" direction?
Its tread pattern is designed so that when the brakes are applied, the grooves channel water outward and away from the contact patch, improving grip and reducing the risk of hydroplaning as the front tyre handles the majority of braking forces.

I have realized buying bikes is allot cheaper than cars.

Also got my diavel from Berto, how’s the ride on yours? Find the suspension very hard compared to my Vrod’s. Was debating getting the upgraded ohlins shock as meant to be allot better at absorbing bumps

The Gen 2 Diavel is also a hard ride. Before you buy Ohlins, look into the OEM spring options,
I know the Gen2 is fitted with a K80 rear spring. Suiting most people up to 90kg body weight, Ducati offers a K=90 and K=105 spring to be swapped out, as does Ohlins, and the Ohlins spring is cheaper than ducati, however, the complete Ohlins rear shock with improved Damping is about 25k for the Diavel.

Thanks I’ll have a look into that. Going to Europe the next time the end of the month so going to get the ohlins shock when I’m there.

So an update here.

Decided to get rid of the aftermarket Italian flags on the sides of the tank. They had faded, and started looking Irish, which in reality suits my heritage to a degree, I did purchase new replacement Italian flags, but after removing the old ones, I loved the clean look. So they stayed off.

Also was time for a new rear tyre, so switched from the michelin road 5 to the Pirelli Diablo Rosso III. Its a meaty tyre being a 240/45 for a bike. And the grip is next level.

Went on a run to scrub the new tyre in, have had the bike leaned over to nearly the very edge of the tyre already, and thats just street/mountain pass riding for now, I plan on doing a track day on the 6th Dec and really open her up (legally haha)

Next thing, was the fact that my bike jackets have always been hand me downs or second hand, and although im generally fine with that, the ones I used more often were very old, and the seams were starting to break and it was time for a new jacket.
Ive always wanted the Knox brand from the UK, which meant importing, as there are no resellers locally of the brand, so I looked locally for other style jackets, and I was never really happy. So I decided to pull the trigger and import the Knox Honister MK2 jacket.

They design their lineup as a layered approach, a baseline, an armour layer, a thermal layer. And a waterproof layer.

The Honister is massively ventilated, perfect summer jacket, AAA graded (grade reserved for 1 and 2 piece leather suits).
When the temp changes, I can feel it immediately, so i purchased their Dual Pro 3 in 1 jacket as the thermal layer, its designed to be worn with the Honister, and what a treat its been. Perfect year round protection and comfort. Really has been the best purchase.

Also got myself a ln adaptor to charge the Ducati, as Ducati has an option to charge the battery via the diagnostics port, so I got the adaptor for my CTEK charger, and now have the bike on charge when not in use during the week.

Ive been invited to race in the Killarney 8hr Short Circuit race on Dec 14th, and the team has been been provided with a Honda NSR125 race bike, so we will have some fun with that for sure.

I have the Knox urbane pro, in Eswatini gets super hot here, the ventilation on them is excellent and the quality is excellent, also have their jeans & action pro trousers. Worth the money in my opinion.

Oh very nice, I considered the Urbane Pro also. But settled on the Honister,
I wouldn't mind their pants either, so that'll be next year's gift to me haha
