Ao in my search for a X5 i have noticed how close the M50D and Porsche Cayenne Turbo and GTS prices are

The X5M seems to keep its value much better than the Cayenne Turbo??

For the price of an M50d I can get an quite decent Turbo bu5, the X5M is at least R500 000 mor expensive.??

I would steer away from Porsche as a family car. If something goes wrong mechanically, you will end up waiting a long time for parts. BMW would be much better in supply chain logistics, given it being a more mass produced manufacturer.

I own a Porsche sports car but I would rather take an X5 over a Cayenne.

Yes.

If the car is still on original 3 year Porsche warranty, then that warranty passes to the the next owner, regardless of who the seller is. So, private dealer, private individual, Porsche dealer, etc. can pass that warranty on to you, the buyer. One just needs to notify Porsche SA.

However, the maintenance plan DOES NOT pass on to the 2nd hand buyer, if the deal is through private seller or private dealer. The maintenance plan only passes on if the deal is through a Porsche Dealership.
