330D problems
Ok I have a 330d (2005) and had plug and play unit that Ive had for years all my cars have used it, and the chip died sadly . Being the old (actually the one SAC used to develop first one, besides steve fishers in Sa)
Being so old I was forced to purchase the new version one had it fitted etc Here the problems started Car ran great but my old chip felt stronger maybe just me or map used lol, but after a hour of highway driving she would judder and feel like she has lost energy.Lately now summer is here it is fine driving from germiston to sandton ,then after being then parked in sun and driving back car smokes a lot under acceleration and has no power. Next day she s fine until hot again.
Engine bay is bloody hot and chip unit does get hot ,but disconnected and bridged her and does the same .
Has anyone experienced anything similar before I get nailed for new computer or whatever .
All my 300d have been chipped and never had a days probs .
Any ideas guys .

My 320d (A/T) brakes screeches when I reverse, with a deep drone...

when moving slowly forward not applying an brakes it also gives a high pitched screech, but when I apply very little pressure to the brake pedal (not enough to even start braking) it goes away....

And then lastly, when I brake softly the steering vibrates, but when I brake hard it doesn't....

Anyone have an idea what this could be? Worn discs? Loose calliper?

Could it be some belt? Any ideas on a fix?

I picked up my 540 this morning from G&C. They identified the leak on the autobox, but did not want to work on it.

From what we can see the leak is on the right hand side of the gearbox, from a sender unit. According to the mechanic he phoned Triangle Transmissions, and they said he must drop the sump, remove the valve body, and only then will you be able to remove the sender unit, inwards.

This to me sounds like a hell of a jobbie. Also, the cluncking sound on start-up might be a damaged flexplate. To fix this, you need to remove the gearbox (again, according to mechanics).

Now my question to Uber and the likes:
1)Is removing the valvebody and replacing the sender unit such a big job?
2) Should one be weary of damaging something else in the process?
3) How serious is the flexplate issue? (Apart from the noise)
4) What can one expect to pay for such repairs?

and lastly. Maybe it is time for a manual swop?

HI Guys,
Not sure if anyone can help, but my brother has a 316i e36 auto.
The car overheated and started to miss and cutout. So they did the following:
•	Sent Cylinder head to engineers for pressure check & Skimming
•	New head gasket
•	New thermostat
•	New radiator
•	New fan ( you know the Aluminum part)
•	New oil & antifreeze

With all that done the car still overheats when driving. He noticed that during the day its fine but the moment he uses his head lights the heat gauge rapidly goes to red.
I don’t think the mechanic has all his screws tight cos he just recommended changing every thing and the problem is still there.
What else can be checked or changed to solve the problem?

Hi guys

I have a 330 ci 2003 model with a blown head gasket. Now the car is at my mechanic who says that the fault was caused due to the thermostat staying open and allowing water into the engine.

I had the head redone, as well as bought new gasket set (note that i bought it myself), bought the thermostat and everything else needed for the car.

I am not a BMW mechanic and he has told me that the threads on the block have to be redone? is this correct? or is he taking a chance?
Also he says that he has a guy that can come out and do all 24 for R1200... is this the going price???

Besides all of that, he is charging me R1800 labour which i thought to be a job that would take a couple of hours???

PLEASE OFFER YOUR OPINION/ADVICE.

Hi guys

I have a 330 ci 2003 model with a blown head gasket. Now the car is at my mechanic who says that the fault was caused due to the thermostat staying open and allowing water into the engine.
