New tyres
Hi all

the time has come for new tyres but i cant get my hands on the Bridgestone S001 Potenza's at a good price...so I managed to get Conti Sport 5 run flats,

anyone got some experience on the conti's when compared to the Potenza's ?

Will I be in any trouble with BMW if i have Conti's in the back and Bridgestone's in the front , my front tyres are about 3mm above the replace mark so i guess thats alot of KM to throw away

15k for all 4 tyres at one go isnt fun esp in January.

RE: New tyres
as long as the COnti's and Bridgestones are "star" rated both

then it shouldnt be a problem to have mixed brands

RE: New tyres
Hi Ash

no , I dont think the contisure is included, I am buying it from tyre corp in brits.
Do i pay extra for contisure ?

I was told that the conti's are * rated for BMW.

RE: New tyres
I called BMW and they said i cannot have different brand tyres on my car. its either bridgestone or conti's but not both.

so now i have the hard choice of which is the better Tyre.
hows the ride handling on the continentals and also the wear ?

all 4 bridgestones for 19k with fitting etc
all 4 conti for 14k with fitting etc.

I think you spoke to a wrong advisor
I would ask John from LeoHasse BMW here on the forum

If it is "STAR" rated...thus BMW approved, what does it matter if the front and back are different "brands"

RE: New tyres
Maybe check in the owners manual.

In my E85 z4 owners manual it specifically says all 4 wheels should have the same thread pattern.... but I'm not sure how much it matters to the overall driving experience (unless you're constantly driving at high speed eg: 180 kph).

RE: New tyres
I always thought the Contis will be more expensive than Bridgestone.
with regard to your Mplan, best call your dealer and ask. last you want is for your plan to be cancelled because of something silly.

YesNo
they are misleading you, I have bridgestones in the front and contis in my rear "19s. No issues at all and that doesn't affect your MP too

RE: New tyres
Agree, new Bridgestones rear and older conti's front and just after the fitment went to BMW to get the wheel alignment done(sufferd excessive camber wear rear right and it was out) no problem with that.
