TheFanatics Event Feedback Thread

Hi All,

Im sorry for the negative subject but its disappointing, demotivating and a huge concern for us who strive to bring us all together and then faced with a handful of fanatics at at event...

Yes, that's right... Over the last few months the event attendance has been dismal to say the least and I (personally) have had to bring this topic up. Its sad that we (TheFanatics) have built teams to satisfy your event needs and they work damn hard to do so but there's limited people or the same eager Fanatics attending. Thank you to the eager, loyal guys who are always keen to attend, we value your support and wish that you are always at our events.

Let me provide some stats...

This weekend, BMWFanatics together with AUTOMC hosted a Dyno day. Heres the number, FIVE (5) of the entries were from the Forum...

Next weekend, The KZN boys have a Charity event, its been up for a few weeks, they have received 5 donations... FIVE...

Last month, the GP events team CANCELLED an event...

This is just in the last 2 months... The GP end of year breakfast run brought a handful of us together, while we filled up the restaurant, we did expect more.

Now, again, im sorry for being negative but as i said, its demotivating to the teams that go out their way, spend time during busy work days only to be faced with handful of us reaping the benefits of their hard work. To add, AutoMC, an advertiser had costs incurred to host the dyno event, all for 13 Fanatics? Im sure you understand the negativity?

But, with that said... We will continue to bring you events, perhaps we will lower our quality so that we dont put in too much effort into them...

Let us hear from you, TheFanatics members, what has happened? Is it the economy? Is it time? Is there something the events team has done wrong? Is there something the events teams can do to bring more together?

How can we increase the numbers at our events?

To end off, a huge thank you from me to the events teams and those that actually do attend events for the time and effort put into events. There are loyal fanatics and it can been seen by the accolades we collect when attending other club events. Big ups to you...

Looking forward to hearing from you...

We'd like to thank Chris from the Cape Town event coordinators again for his sterling determination to help out and ensure a smooth-running of the event :ty:

As stated, 13 Fanatics attended of which 5 were on the dyno. A lot more was expected as an official BMWFanatics event. Total dyno participants amounted to 25 for the day, 3 up from the previous year in October.

We had many spectators from other clubs (and on their own) come through so big thanks to them for the support :ty:

Just as a correction for AutoMC Dyno Day.

13 of the 26 cars that was on the Dyno were BMW's.

Only about 5 or 6 of those 13 BMW's were Fanatics (AFAIK).

Therefore only 20% of participants were Fanatics.

The problem has been rectified. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Sad, really sad !

:thumbdo:

Is this a regional issue or a national problem. I have noticed that Gauteng events are normally the same guys attending but we do have more members in this region.

I like attending car club events where you do something with the car. Track day\breakfast run etc. From the photos you guys post, those events are always a roaring success.

The trackday, albeit a strip-day more than a trackday was limited to a certain number of cars and by the time I saw registrations opened, it was sold out already and this even when the strip day was priced at the same price as a trackday.

Maybe do some research into what events the fanatics like to attend. Its kinda like the movies, we go there to watch awesome movies that we like. If they throw in a couple of bad movies inbetween the good movies, I dont feel obliged to go watch the bad movies just because I belong to the movie club.

Oh, just to add, you guys do an awesome job and I dont think you should take this personal!!!

Maybe shift the events over Gauteng and not only in JHB as when it was in Midrand we were ok to drive there, halfway for each but most of the events now is based deep in JHB.

Would love to see some Pretoria events :fencelook:

So what i mean is location is sort of a contributor here, well in my case that is

What boggles me is that the Western Cape has got some of the best roads, scenery and destinations for breakfast runs and photoshoots yet these events happen only once in a blue moon that side? One would think these types of events that side would dwarf the rest of those across the country.

Thanks Max... Its not that we taking this personal, we do spend a lot of time, effort and sometimes our own money to get events going. We would like for the members to enjoy it to the fullest.

WRT the track/strip day, we had to keep numbers low, so the participants get maximum out of the R500. We tend to keep costs to as low as we can, remember the forum has expenses to cover as well.

No doubt each member has freedom to choose attendance, thats a given. However, our monthly events are on a low. Our annual events build up the hype as they occur once a year only.

Perhaps we shouldnt have an event every month? Maybe once a quarter?

Thanks, this is great feedback. I will admit, most of this years events have been centered in the greater JHB regions and not out to PTA... GP Events guys, please take note.

So sorry guys for not making it to the AUTOMC Dyno Day event. Was experiencing muscle spasms in my legs and ended up very late at the car wash to get my car clean for the event. Was really looking forward to see how my 330d would perform on the Dyno.

Again, really sorry for not being there. :sorry:

I really enjoy the midnight/ice cream runs, the birthday lunch, looking forward to the clarens run and will definitely come for that and the track day.

I would come for every event if i could but sometimes the events clash with family functions and tests for me as i am still a student.

I try to attend all the events i can as i enjoy meeting up with all the fanatics and getting to know new people.

I would like to thank the organisers :clapper: for doing such a great job and i hope that this thread will now encourage others to start attendong more events .

I attended the 1st (I think) ice-cream run in GP. I thought it was amazing in terms of attendance, BUT, apart from 4/5 people (eg Divio/Dewalt), everyone was really standoffish.

There were all these little cliques, and that's not something I enjoy.

So that's why I have not been keen to join again.

It could also be worth putting together a better notification/reminder/calendar system so that it's more noticeable to members. I often forget that the event is happening on a particular weekend.

Maybe put together Google calendars for each region or for the Fanatics community in general, where people can subscribe to the calendar and receive event notifications on their phone/tablet/PC.
