E90 320d maintenance

I am new to the forum but would like some advice from the experts. I recently bought a 2011 320d auto with 75 000km on the clock. I plan to drive this car for long. What preventative maintenance would be suggested to achieve my goal.
Thanks
Jacques Jansen

Do oil changes at 7.5k KM intervals and have the cat removed once you are out of motor plan. That should keep her running smooth.

Thanks a lot. The cat removal does not require re-mapping?

My 320d had oil changes every 6-8k kms depending on how hard I drove the car.. So frequent oil changes are a must! :=):

Did you decide on the oil changes yourself or work on the cars service interval.

I would also like to know if anyone has done a down pipe only with no software.
Bmw is offering a free holiday check.
Maybe take the car to them, get a full report and do the repairs some were else.
My car is booked in for tomorrow
2011 - 320d m pack 135 000km no issues no motor plan.

youll mention oil changes ,

nobody mentions what oil should be bought or are we referring to giving it Agents to do an oil change?

thanks

Ask 10 people what's the best oil to use and you'll get 10 different answers. All this has been discussed to death. If you search the forum you'll find all the answers you're looking for.

I use liquimoly. Some prefer Shell. Some prefer mobil1. Some prefer castrol. etc etc.

I've had my 320d Auto Sport E90 since 2009 it now has 128,000kms and I can honestly say that this motor vehicle is a GEM! The thing about cars is that if you give it love its returns it. Regular servicing dealership or not is key to maintaining the useful life of the car. Just got a big bill for serving at 128,300kms but when you do the math maintenance costs per kilometre you get a sense the owning a BMW after motorplan in not that expensive. In this case about 50 cents per kilometre (without tyres/exhaust and major stuff).

I thought I'd share these parts pricing with you which I got from a BMW dealership this morning (23/05/2016).

Engine Oil 6 litres R1008.00
Oil Filter R263.25
Diesel Fuel filter R725.00
Air Filter R928.40
Cabin Filter R630.59
V-Belt 1024.11
Front Brakes 2192.31
Rear Brakes 2192.31
Brake Sensors Front 307.62
Brake Sensors Rear 358.89
Coolant R260.73
ATF Gearbox Fluid R505.65 * 9.5litres (R4,550)

Hope this helps you in some small way.

Hi. I have a 320d e90 pre facelift. Have the car for more than three years and i must say it is an awesome car. Havent had a days trouble. Just the usual servicing which i DIY with all parts from agents. Recently replaced pulleys and serpentine belt. Car is currently on 255000km and it hasnt crossed my mind yet to find a replacement. So in that note go ahead and drive her for long... very long.

The Gearbox Fluid is BS! the box in total holds 9L however when they do a fluid oil change the only exchange 3-4L and make you pay for 9L ontop of that ZF sells the oil cheaper.

Okay Bye

Reviving an old thread.

So, I'd love to hear what other 320d owners maintenance schedule's look like.

Current Schedule:
  • I've been changing Oil and oil filter every 10 000km
  • Diesel & air filter every 30 000km.
  • Wheel rotation, balancing, alignment, Shocks test every 10 000km
  • Bottle of Injector Cleaner every 10 000km
  • Anything else that pops up non the computer, ie Brake fluid flush etc
  • I check and measure pads and disks all round every 10 000km

My car is approaching 140 000km, and Ive inspected the Vibration Damper Pulley and belts, and it still looks pretty good, it only has very fine hairline cracks in the rubber, will be keeping a very close eye on this moving forward.

Next service is due in about 4000km, and I am keen to do some preventative maintenance over and above the issues above, input and comments welcome:
  • Power Steering Fluid Flush
  • Diff Oil Change
  • Adjust hand brake
  • Check Control arm Bushings

Anything else? I see some people also replace thermostats at some point in time?
