Yeah they did, unless the owner owned a dealship and pulled some strings. Those are the same seats that you find in a e36 LTW. If you can find a way to remaufacture that cloth you can make alot of money.
Oh and i like the orange corners. :p

Heard ages ago the first batch of E36 M3's that came to S.A, had these cloth seats as standard. If memory serves me correct the bulk of the cars were Dakar Yellow. Apparently they were lighter in weight than the cars that followed.

Cloth was a no cost option, so leather was my standard by pretty much all of the dealers as it was percieved to be better value at the time.
This car has the lightweight sports seats which are considerably lighter then the vaders. Also no airbags, TC so you are correct is a little lighter then the ones that followed it.
