Pedestrian knocked

Hi All,

My Monday morning started off with quite a fright!

Shortly: I parked in parallel parking, got out of the car talking on the cell while looking for the person whom I'm talking to on the phone. (Wife was waiting in the car.)

I got off the phone, back into the car, put my seat belt on & scanned all the mirrors, reversed and heard a funny sound. Stopped, moved the car slighty forward again and got out.

It happened that a lady somehow got in the way, and luckily only her shoe got damaged, and se was fine! :sorry:

I such case, which one of us would be the 'guilty' party here?

As for the blame I`m not sure hey, you checked all the spots and everything, maybe she was just in thought?

This sounds like a scam that did the rounds a couple of years ago. I hope you reported the incident to SAPS, otherwise the pedestrian might get you in trouble.

I don't remember exactly how the scam works, but it basically goes like this:
A pedestrian gets in a minor incident while you are parking, then opens a case at SAPS and claims from RAF and ultimately from you for their damages. I think the scam part comes in the difference between their actual damages vs what they claimed happened. I hope at least you had a witness?

Of course, I could be wrong.

sounds like a scam, hide in the blind spot then get "hurt" just enough to try for some money but not enough to actually be truly hurt.

But as it happened right in front of a police station, and her brother in law works at the police station, I'm sure they could have burned my ass right there if they wanna to. But we settled everything right there & then.

I had a guy run into my car on the N2 going through the township area, it was on newyears eve. The guy was hammered. He started running I saw him but I was like theres no way he's going to keep running. He got the the middle and didnt stop. Started to hoot, swerved into the left lane and over into the yellow line. And the oak clapped the side of the bonnet just infront of the side mirror, broke the side mirror off of the e46. Pulled over called the police. Roads were wet and it was night time.

Jumped out of the car saw a cop car driving down, my hazards on, ran into the road waving my arms trying to get the guy to pull over. They all looked at me like I was absolutely mad. They drove 50ms past me saw the guy lying in the road and ONLY then put there lights on. Another reason why I hate our police and think they are so shit. Then a crowd flocked out of the township and gathered on the side of the ride. The uneducated scum were shouting "hit and run" at me. I mean honestly.

I dont know if the oak was just so drunk he didnt see me but I have never been that drunk and I've been pretty drunk some times. Or he got drunk and thought he would try get hit by a car and claim RAF so he would never have to work again. Unfortunately it is illegal to J walk on a national highway so I doubt he could have claimed anything.
